Canyon Trails Ranch Horseback Rides
Before You Book!
- We require a minimum of two riders per ride, with a maximum of six
- Discounts of 10% are given to families of four or more
- We have horses for all levels of rider abilities. Trips are not tailored to children under 8 years of age, or anyone with a fear of horses in general.
- A minimum of 24 hours notice is necessary for each ride (longer for the over-night trips).
- Over-night trips require a 50% non-refundable, deposit upon booking of your trip, with the balance being due the morning of the trip.
- If inclement weather forces cancellation of the scheduled ride, the ride will either be re-booked or a refund of the deposit will be given.
- Acceptable forms of payment include: Cash, Travelers or Personal Checks. Sorry, we cannot accept any credit cards.
Spend three hours riding with the Canyon Trails wrangler(s) through the adjacent red-rock canyons of "Canyons of the Ancients" National Monument. Your guide will lead you to see many ruins left by the ancestral Puebloan People who lived here a thousand years ago (formerly known as the "Anasazi"). You will also have the opportunity to get off your horse and visit these sites up close and personal. Bring your camera, a hat and sunscreen. Wear long pants and good shoes or non-bulky hiking boots and we'll pack a water bottle and snack for everyone. Trips usually depart between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. and return between 11:30 and noon.
The all day trip lasts for about 6 hours and goes to some of the above sites and much more! This ride is meant for those who want to spend an entire day enjoying horses, the Southwest scenery and exploring some of the pristine BLM back-country. Sack lunch included.
This option covers all of the above, but at the end of the day you don't have to go home! You come back to camp under the stars of the beautiful Southwest. The Chuck Wagon will be waiting, where a memorable Dutch oven dinner will be prepared for you over the campfire. When you are ready to retire, you can throw your bedroll in one of these: An authentic Navajo Hogan; tent, or out under the stars. Bring your own sleeping bags, or rent one of our ($10/each). The next morning wake to fresh cowboy coffee and a hot country breakfast. The return ride home will get you back before noon.
